Empowering the youth of Lesotho to rise with dignity, resilience, and purpose — honouring the legacy of King Moshoeshoe I through the vision of a new generation.
Launched by HRH Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso in alignment with Lesotho's bicentennial, Shoeshoe Ea Moshoeshoe draws inspiration from the ideals of King Moshoeshoe I — peace, forgiveness, and unity. The initiative extends a helping hand for the educational needs of less privileged learners across the country.
From school donation drives at Maseru Mall and Pioneer Mall to the Traditional Games Tour reviving indigenous Basotho games at schools like Pitseng High School, the foundation is building a movement of collective responsibility.
Across Lesotho, we mobilise community support and build partnerships to provide school supplies, uniforms, and sanitary products to vulnerable learners — restoring dignity and expanding educational opportunity.
Supporting holistic wellbeing — ensuring every child has access to health services, sanitary products, and dignity.
Providing school supplies, uniforms, and mentorship so young people can learn with confidence.
Championing every child's right to education, safety, and a voice in their own future.
Reviving traditional games like morabaraba, diketo, and mashonisa through the Traditional Games Tour.
Every item represents hope, dignity, and the future of our children.
Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe was inspired by the legacy of King Moshoeshoe I, whose ideals of peace, forgiveness and unity remain central to our national identity. We want to strengthen existing efforts to support learners, mobilise community and corporate support, and encourage collective participation.
A royal initiative rooted in compassion, guided by purpose, born from Lesotho's 200-year legacy.
Launched on 20 August 2026 at Maseru Mall by Her Royal Highness Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso, Shoeshoe Ea Moshoeshoe is a nationwide initiative to extend a helping hand for the educational needs of less privileged learners in schools across Lesotho. The foundation draws its name and spirit from King Moshoeshoe I, the great founder and unifier of the Basotho nation.
Princess Senate, the eldest child of His Majesty King Letsie III and Her Majesty Queen 'Masenate Mohato Seeiso, announced the initiative as Basotho prepared for Moshoeshoe's Day commemorations. In alignment with Lesotho's bicentennial celebrations, the programme mobilises partnerships towards promotion of education, with items donated annually including school socks, shoes, uniforms, pens, rulers, and sanitary towels.
The initiative also includes the Traditional Games Tour — a cultural programme bringing indigenous Basotho games like morabaraba, diketo, and mashonisa back to schools across the country, connecting youth with their heritage while encouraging cultural pride. At Pitseng High School, students dressed in colourful seshoeshoe attire participated alongside community elders, creating an intergenerational bridge.
With the support of UNFPA Representative John Kennedy Mosoti and corporate partners, the foundation aims to restore dignity for the less privileged and is commencing in Matsieng and nearby schools, with plans to expand countrywide. The programme will run annually, starting during the Moshoeshoe's Day period each March.
A person is a person through other people. We honour community interconnectedness and treat every individual with dignity.
Just as Moshoeshoe I unified diverse clans, we bring communities together under a shared vision.
We listen to the youth. Their insights guide our programmes and inspire lasting change.
Every initiative is a seed of hope — nurturing potential today for a stronger Lesotho tomorrow.
Holistic support to nurture resilience, skill, and self-belief in every young person we reach.
Our flagship initiative — a nationwide annual school donation drive providing stationery, shoes, uniforms, and sanitary products to vulnerable learners. Launched at Maseru Mall and Pioneer Mall, the drive mobilises community, media, and corporate partners to restore dignity for less privileged students across Lesotho.
A unique cultural programme reviving indigenous Basotho games — morabaraba, diketo, and mashonisa — at schools across the country. Students dress in seshoeshoe attire and play alongside community elders, creating intergenerational connections and rekindling cultural pride. Currently touring schools including Pitseng High School.
Beyond supplies, we work with schools to support learners through mentorship, question-and-answer sessions with Princess Senate, and educational engagement. The programme commenced in Matsieng and nearby schools with plans to expand countrywide.
Building partnerships with UNFPA, media organisations, corporate partners, and community members. Together with co-organisers, we create a network of support that makes lasting impact possible for Lesotho's most vulnerable learners.
